EP23 - Louise Percy – Modern Etiquette and Manners

Louise shares all about knowing what to do, when to do it, how to do it, and what not to do. From small talk tips, to building rapport, including best practise when it comes to how to present yourself with confidence. This episode has got it all!

The Percy Institute is both a training and consultancy organisation, their role is to give you confidence by learning the intricacies of modern etiquette both business and social. Having had offices in Singapore and Shanghai Louise is more than qualified to consult widely on cross cultural awareness issues as well.

They discuss the evolution of manners, and how much things have organically evolved over Louise’s 30 years in business. How it’s always important to be kind and considerate to others. Also, the importance of correctly addressing somebody upon first meeting, and being able to build rapport which can lead to successful business.

At some point, we’ve all gone to an event on our own and felt daunted by the fact we don’t know anyone. Making sure you arrive on time is key, as it’s highly likely the organiser will be there to greet you and be able to introduce you to someone. After all, that person is likely feeling the same way. Remember you already have common ground, the fact you’re both at the same event for the same reason. It’s interesting to hear what Louise recommends you do after attending an event, helping you to feel more comfortable and prepared for the next one.

They also discuss what it’s like showing up in a digital age, and the importance of first impressions whether you’re showing up online or in person.

Tune in to hear Louise’s saying about being prepared and being able to show up as your best self, as well as some of her amazing stories of how she got to where she is today.
